Day 4 — Your sibling

Perry (left), Sean (middle), Me (right)
Perry James Crooks: This is my older brother; older by a year and a half. I’ve lived with him my whole life before he joined the USAF. I was actually supposed to sign up with him, but I was too caught up in a relationship that ended soon after he signed up. I really regret my decisions back then. Perry’s actually almost done with his 4-year contract. He’ll be back home and into the Reserve on Nov. 28, 2010. It’s gonna be good times when he’s back. I don’t only see him as my blood-related older brother, but as a true best friend that’s been true to our friendship since day one. People sometimes think that Perry and I are just best friends because we don’t look alike (at least that’s what I think and that’s what most people think) and the way we act around each other. I’ve told many people that we’re actually blood-related brothers and those people are like, “WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” and explode. Perry’s done so much for me as a brother and I’m thankful for everything. I love him to death and I wouldn’t hesitate to take a bullet for him.
Sean Crooks: This is my younger brother; younger by three and a half years. I haven’t lived with him my whole life. Back in the day when my mom and dad were on the verge of separating, Perry and I were separated from him because of the decisions my mom and dad were making about who should live with who. This went on for years and it fucked up the relationship between Sean, Perry and I. When Sean, Perry and I finally lived in the same household it was a little weird because we couldn’t really relate to Sean. Perry and I felt like he wasn’t our brother because he was raised in different societies. Perry and I we’re raised in the most ghetto places ever. I learned how to cuss at the age of seven. That’s how bad those places were. Sean, on the other hand, was raised in places that Perry and I like to call the easy life. He ended up being the spoiled brother while Perry and I didn’t take everything for granted. It was like this for a long time. It wasn’t until Sean started going to high school four years ago that I actually took the time to get to know him. I would’ve started later, but Perry left for the USAF so the only person I could really talk to at home was Sean. We’ve made a lot of progress these past four years though. And I can say that we finally have that connection of being true brothers. Despite the fact that we’ve only really got to know each other these past four years, I still love him to death and I also wouldn’t hesitate to take a bullet for him.
